It’s Tuesday after a long holiday weekend, and if you are feeling anything like me today it’s more than a little sluggish.
I don’t know if it was the craziness of last week’s game schedule topped with Thanksgiving and all of the yummy (carb loaded and sugary) food that goes with it or what, but I am just not feeling myself this week. I am doing my best to get as much rest as I can while getting my eating and workouts back on track so I can hopefully kick whatever is trying to take over this body of mine. Fingers crossed!
Speaking of kicks… remember when I previously wrote about how you can design your own shoes (<- make sure to read about the process if you missed it!) on Reebok’s website? I was given the opportunity to select a pair to custom design as part of my partnership with them and was so excited to see them arrive at my doorstep yesterday!
After at least an hour of going back and forth on the design (I am horribly indecisive), I came up with a Detroit Pistons type of color scheme, complete with a customized initialed back.
Pretty darn accurate, right?
Excited to give them a go, I wore them to practice last night which also included a workout of running stadium stairs, walking lunges and core exercises. By far, the CrossFit Nano Speed sneakers have been my favorite versatile workout shoe I have tried thus far.
Interested in designing a shoe of your choice for yourself? Good news!
Reebok is offering one lucky Housewife Glamour reader the chance to win a gift card to design your own custom shoes, too!
Leave a comment on this post sharing what sneaker you would pick to make your own and enter at least one additional entry into Rafflecopter.
Did you utilize all of the entries available? (Remember if you are already a HWG fan on Facbeook/Twitter, that still gets you additional entries!)
You have until Midnight Sunday, December 8th E.S.T. to enter the giveaway. The winners will be announced first thing Monday morning, December 9th.
AND (!!!) before I go, I have to mention that Reebok has extended their Cyber Monday savings to midnight TONIGHT! Through today only, receive 30% off everything Reebok (except for custom shoes and the Nano 3.0s) by using the promo code CYBER30. You better believe I took advantage of this savings by stocking up on winter fitness gear and maybe even a fitness shoe or two for the husband. (<- best shopping strategy ever.)
See you later this afternoon with a new recipe from Thanksgiving.

Oh boy, do I have something fashionably fun to share with you today!
But we’ll get to the details in just a minute. *Tease*
We’re officially back in game season, folks. If you are a regular around here, then you’ve already heard all about the events and madness going on in our lives right now. It’s crazy. Once summer ends and October rolls around, we’re released into a world of long nights, no-such-thing as weekends Saturdays and Sundays, and outings to attend almost daily.
I often joke that this type of lifestyle is not for the weak. Dancing is a “part-time job”, yes, but I have always said it is a full-time commitment. My days, nights, and weekends now revolve around a basketball court and representing it in our community at all times (hence my now unpredictable posting time every day). Welcome to it!
I spent the majority of today catching up on some work and going through emails. I have just enough time to fit in an afternoon run around the neighborhood before getting ready for tonight’s game BUT after how sore I felt during the last game, I’m going to rain check it until tomorrow. I’m sure my legs will thanks me.
Instead, let’s quickly recap today’s eats! Breakfast was something most of you have seen here before… a bowl of Nature’s Path Pumpkin Raisin Crunch. Alone or topped with fresh fruit, it’s just too good not to eat and bring up again. So I did.
I enjoyed another bowl of fresh berries (same mid-morning snack as yesterday) and wasn’t kidding when I mentioned I could keep refilling this and eating it all day long thing, either.
Give me all the berries.
I am finishing up lunch as I type with a turkey and vegetable wrap made out of Tuesday’s monster salad leftovers.
When putting those together I always make sure to have extras to put on the side or in something for the next few meals. The whole wheat Smart & Delicious Low-Carb tortilla is fiber packed and makes any wrap just a little more filling. I wrapped it tight, dipped it into a side of Sabra Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, and enjoyed every single bite!
Violet Love Headband Giveaway
I was contacted a few weeks ago by a custom printed headband and clothing company. After scrolling through the blog, they caught on to the fact that I am fan of big headbands, as I wear them often on runs and in group fitness classes.
Violet Love was started by Rebecca Michaels, a former engineer, when she couldn’t find a headband to fit what she was looking for. She created Violet Love headbands, which are all LA-made, PETA-Vegan approved and eco friendly. They are no slip, no headache headbands which makes them perfect for running, yoga or anything in between!
Although I haven’t tried these running yet, I have a feeling they will be perfect for my secret earbud trick.
So far, I have been loving the patterned prints that spice up my every day yoga/lounge/dance wear.
I don’t know about you… but when I put on adorable yoga gear, I instantly want to put it to use and practice.
(Don’t mind the awkwardness of trying to hold the camera and the pose.)
I will be sure to report how these headbands hold up during workouts, but for now can share how soft, stretchy, and fun they are to wear anywhere. They are loose enough to prevent headaches, but just tight enough to comfortably stay in place.
While I really don’t want to part with any I was so generously sent, I have some good news for those interested. One lucky Housewife Glamour reader will win two Violet Love headbands in Pigeon and Wild Thing!
(Retail Value: $34)
Leave a comment on this post sharing where you think you would wear these headbands the most (around town, in a yoga class, on a run, etc.) and enter at least one additional entry into Rafflecopter!
You have until Midnight Monday, October 14th E.S.T. to enter the giveaway. Winners will be announced first thing Tuesday morning.
*Don’t forget to leave a comment on this post below. You must do so in order for your entry into Rafflecopter to count!
*Disclaimer: I was provided with these headbands, free of charge, from Violet Love. I was not compensated for this review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own!

Are any of you itching to mix up your workout routine at the gym? Looking for a way to keep on top of your workouts while traveling? Don’t feel like leaving your house to get in a good sweat and personal coaching session?
If you became the slightest bit intrigued by any the above questions then are going to love this giveaway!
I received the PEAR Sports Coaching and Training System in the mail about a month and a half ago. As part of a campaign through FitFluential, I was selected to review this new workout app made specifically for the iPhone 4S or 5. Knowing I had a summer of traveling ahead of me, it couldn’t have come at a better time!
It was relatively easy to get started once I received the equipment.
(iPhone App + Stride™ Earphones + Heart Rate Monitor)
Step 1: Download PEAR Sports App
Step 2: Sign Up
Step 3: Create Profile
Step 4: Activate GPS + Heart Rate Monitor
Step 5: Calibration Workout (Complete a short 20 minute workout to allow the system to get on your fitness level.)
Step 6: Download Workouts + Go!
During my trial, I completed several different types of workouts including a coached Long Distance (7 mile) Run, Cardio Core 6-Pack, Tread’N'Shred HIIT, Fast Finish Running (a 30 minute run with 10 minutes of sprints), and about a zillion Free Format workouts (no coaching, just tracking.)
I guess you could say this trio of equipment has become a part of my every day workout routine.
Before receiving it, I thought it would be similar to many of the other fitness apps out there and didn’t expect anything special. After trying it, I now realize the system is in an entire league of it’s own. Really.
Exactly what makes it different?
PEAR is a digital audio training system that coaches users in real-time by monitoring their heart rate, adapting to their fitness level and putting a coach directly in their ear. During the workout, there are pre-set tips shared along the way, but the feedback on how the user is doing all depends on the fitness level and effort received from the user.
(You actually feel like someone is there with you.)
• With the Bluetooth Heart Rate Monitor, the app tracks heart rate continuously during the workout and transmits accurate readings to the device.
• There are literally hundreds of coached workouts to choose from with a large variety from strength training to spinning, and even post-exercise cool down workouts like yoga and stretching.
• The mobile app integrates with the user’s music library, iTunes, and third party music apps such as Pandora and Spotify, allowing you to listen to music in the background while PEAR coaches.
• The Stride™ earphones allow you to play, pause, skip, answer calls, and receive on-demand workout stats at the touch of a button.
• The PEAR system is made for everyone: from beginners to seasoned athletes, and is continuously adding new workouts and plans.
I was most impressed by the new Tread’N'Shred workout, which will be released to the iTunes store in the near future. It only required a treadmill, a set of medium dumbbell weights, and a mat. It started with interval hill sprints, moved to the floor for a series of strength and ab exercises, then repeated. Before beginning the workout, I watched a video demonstrating all of the exercises which was easy to find and reference back to, even in the middle of the workout.
Although I love HIIT, core, and running workouts, I also want to mention the stretching and yoga warm up and cool down workouts. The Post-Run Flex Mini forced me to not only breathe and stretch, but also incorporated a series of foam rolling exercises, which you all know I am a big fan of.
No matter what workout I do (to this day), I have been wearing my Heart Rate Monitor and tracking my calories burned and fitness levels during it. I still have yet to purchase a good fitness watch, so this has become a great substitute for me in the mean time.
I really liked the real-time coaching and tips in my ear, especially on my long distance runs. It can get lonely out there, and it’s motivating to have someone not only telling you your stats, but also sharing bits of information along the way. Every so often, I heard bits on what my posture should look and feel like, reminders to hydrate, and fun phrases and quotes to keep me moving. I loved it!

The following post is sponsored by FitFluential LLC on behalf of Designer Whey.
Today is a very special day for the folks over at Designer Whey. It’s their 20th Anniversary, and they are sharing the love by giving away a ton of free goodies (but we’ll get to that in a minute).
I remember my 20th birthday. It was a huge milestone and start of a new era in my life. I realize that using the word era is a bit dramatic, but it couldn’t describe the changes I went through any better.
You see, the age of twenty is when something clicked inside of me. Working out became something I started to look forward to and eating healthy became something I wanted to learn more about. I’m pretty sure this is the year I also tried my first real protein bar. As a dancer in college, we had access to a handful of trainers and nutritionists and it only took a few conversations and trainings sessions to realize that healthy living was going to be a permanent lifestyle for me.
Today, I am a professional dancer and self appointed girl-on-the-go. Although I work from home during the day, I like to put my meals together quickly and rely on healthy snacks for fuel before, during, and after workouts or practices. I will admit to having at least one kind of protein supplement product (whether it be a bar, shake, powder, or smoothie) every single day. Most days that number climbs up to three.
You get it. I have a special relationship with protein products, so you can only imagine how ecstatic I am to share this post with you!
20 Min. Fast + Furious Interval Sprints Treadmill Workout
In honor of their celebration, I have kicked the excitement off with a killer workout designed to make you break a sweat in 20 minutes or less. It’s meant to be done on an incline and to push you harder and harder as time goes by.
I know… sneaky sneaky!
*As with any elliptical or treadmill workout I post, please keep in mind that each machine is different. These are the levels I use for my personal workouts, but feel free to adjust to lower or higher when needed.
My Designer Whey Story
I first encountered Designer Whey as part of a campaign for FitFluential. I had seen the powders pop up in recipes all over the blogosphere and was excited to get my hands on it! Since then, I have done another review for their Sustained Energy Protein Powder and continue to use the leftovers I have in my pantry to this day.
My go-to product of theirs is the powders. Their variety of flavors is unreal and I wouldn’t mind trying every single one of them. My favorite way to use the powders is in every day treats like cookies or muffins.
On a more regular basis, I use powders to make protein smoothies.
There are so many drool worthy smoothie recipes on their website. Check out a few of my best creations including the Banana Split Protein Smoothie, Double Chocolate Light Peanut Butter Smoothie, and Sweet + Simple Green Smoothie.
Along with the powders, I have enjoyed their whey protein bars on several occasions. Each flavor tastes light enough to enjoy as a snack, rather than a meal replacement, which is what most protein bars do for me. At 170 calories or less, I like that I can sneak one in at any time of the day or even for dessert, if I choose that route.
I have taken a seriously liking to their protein shakes which says a lot coming from me. I am a bit of a protein shake snob, and do not like the majority of them out there!
Their Protein 2GO drink mix helped me experienced true protein powder convenience. I found the fruity flavors refreshing and you can still spot me drinking a colored Protein 2GO water bottle in and out of the gym from time to time.
In a nutshell, there isn’t anything I have tried from them that I haven’t loved!
Celebrating something special like their 20th Anniversary is great, but here’s where reading this post becomes truly intriguing for you…
