Confession: For the past few months I have forgotten everything that happens on Tuesdays to concentrate on Wedding Wednesdays.
I usually have a great Tuesday filled with different topics I could write about, but they usually get forgotten about and brushed under the rug.
Poor little ‘ol Tuesdays.
I spent this Tuesday night with some lovely, smart, creative women who make up the Central Florida Lady Bloggers.
Last March I attended my first-ever blogger meet up. It was with the same organization, but filled up with a different set of faces. Each month, the CFLB hosts a meeting to chat about life, blogging, success stories, advice and anything else pertaining to the writing and photo documenting world.
This week, Katy moderated the group discussion about Technology. What a broad – but awesome – topic that was!
For those of you who don’t know (or even think about it), blogging isn’t just documenting pictures of food and attaching an opinion to it… there are hours and hours spent a week – sometimes daily – going straight into the back-end.
As a blogger, it is your responsibility to provide a site your readers want to follow and come back to. There are plenty of analytic trackers, plug-ins, widgets, affiliate sites and stat counters to download and sign up for, and it’s important to understand exactly what goes where, who gets here, and how it happened.
Did I lose you yet? I know… me too.
Being relatively new in the blogging world, I still have a lot to learn. Luckily, this group of women makes it easier.
From photography and DIY projects to social media and styling, there is always an array of topics we blog about. If you’re ever looking for quality reading material, here is a list of great women and blogs to follow:
Aimee – Happy Medium
Andi – Andi Mans Photography
Andrea – Run, Eat, Date, Sleep
Jackie – MomJovi Blog
Katy – katywidrick.com
Kristina – Love and Zest
Luisa – Lui’s Alluring Design
Marilyn – Forkful, A Handle on Orlando
Tylar – Ty Style Me
Great seeing you all and I look forward to meeting again soon!
Glamour Green Smoothie
Over the past few weeks, I have attempted to make bright and equally delicious green smoothie. I’ve seen pictures of them, heard friends rave about them and have been wanting to create my own version for quite some time. If you’ve never seen a green smoothie, don’t be alarmed, they taste better than they look. Promise.
By using fruits and vegetables, your body gets more fuel and nutrition, leaving the “spinachy green” taste behind.
My first green smoothie attempt was not the greatest. The ingredients were there, but my portions were way off. This time I started off with a cup of spinach, a half a cup of kale, six frozen strawberries, 1 kiwi, 1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt, and 1/2 cup orange juice.
It tasted fine, but I wasn’t satisfied with the color. If I’m going to have a green smoothie – I want it to be green!
So I went a little spinach crazy… I added a pinch, blended, added another pinch, blended and repeated this process until I got this:
By doubling the amount of spinach, it was the perfect amount of two cups.
It’s a keeper!
You can tell I am excited about something when I take a photo of myself drinking or eating it. Successfully making a true to its name green smoothie is an accomplishment for me, so I fully give myself permission to do so.
Go ahead, knock yourself out… I challenge you to make one for yourself.
What’s in your green smoothie?

It’s Wedding Wednesday! If this is your first visit to the blog, each week I spotlight a different subject about Our Wedding Day. Today, we finally get to the P-A-R-T-Y!
*All photos used in this and all wedding related posts are from Elegant Imagery.
Our wedding reception was quite entertaining, or at least we thought so.
Our guests had no idea what to expect, and the night was full of surprises.
Lets start at the beginning.
If you have been keeping up with the Wedding Recaps, you know we spent quite a bit of time making our wedding day unique. A lot of thought and planning went into our ceremony, catering, cake, cocktail hour and reception traditions.
Now it was really time to celebrate!
After dinner, Scott and I quietly excused ourselves from the reception and put Streat Breakz up to the challenge of entertaining our guests so no one would notice. Shout out to our DJ, Les from Soundwave Entertainment, for letting them take over the mics!
The leader of the group, Al Fuentes, is a personal friend of ours and the group started performing at Universal Studios ten years ago. Street Breakz puts on a high energy, interactive acrobatic show and really got our guests into the performance.
Some of the stunts they pulled out were insane.
I didn’t get to see the entire show, but I could tell by the cheering that our guests were impressed.
As were we!
During their performance, I took this opportunity to change into my reception dress and sneakers. I had my bridesmaids come back with me to hand off a pair of black sparkly high top sneakers to wear for the remainder of the night, courtesy of my fellow Orlando Magic Dancers <- thanks again, girls!
Towards the end of the Street Breakz performance, everyone was on their feet. Scott and I crept up to the back curtain and watched guests and even family members bust a move.
Get it, Kirk (Scott’s dad!)
Surprise Bridal Party Dance
From the beginning of our Engagement, Scott and I knew we really wanted to pull out something special at our wedding reception. We had seen surprise Bride and Groom dances, couples change songs in the middle of their first dance song, and several episodes of Rock the Reception on TLC.
We knew whatever we did had to surprise our guests and rock our reception.
When asking my bridesmaids and Scott’s groomsmen to be a part of our bridal party, they knew something crazy was attached to the job. A choreographed dance for Scott and I was expected, but a surprise wedding dance with the entire bridal party was not…
A few months before the wedding, Scott and I met with choreographer and friend, Chris “Casper” Lupis to learn a routine. I created a private YouTube account and taught the entire dance in a few breakdown videos for our bridal party to learn online.
Since most of the groomsmen and a few of my bridesmaids live out of state, this was the only way to give them enough time to learn and feel comfortable performing the routine.
We had two rehearsals the week of the wedding: one for anyone wanting an in-person run through, and one for everyone after rehearsal dinner. This is when each pair choreographed their own moves down the introduction soul train line.
My Matron of Honor (and sister) Trish, and Scott’s Best Man, Joseph, did the Irish jig, which made me literally laugh out loud.
Other dances were quite comical.
I’ll stop typing and let you enjoy it for yourselves…
I still can’t THANK each and every one of you for sticking around, working hard and killing it! THANK YOU again, Casper, for the choreography and for making us do this:
You guys all ROCK!
While most of our reception entertainment was planned, there were a few pleasant surprises. Unknown to me, Scott invited a friend and talented drummer, Xavier Peterson, to play alongside our DJ and violinist.
I didn’t know this until looking back at the pictures, but at some point during the reception our groomsman, Marc, showed us his drumming skills.
Towards the end of the reception, I saw flashes of light coming from the dance floor. Our friend Carissa overseas a charity called Hoola for Happiness, and randomly busted out these light up hoola hoops.
Her hooping skills were serious and our guests weren’t sure if she was hired to perform or not. She wasn’t, but we appreciated the entertainment!
I’m sure everyone says it, but we had a blast at our wedding reception. We wanted the ceremony to be meaningful and the reception to be a party, and I can look back confident that we achieved our goal.
Thank you again to all of our wonderful families, friends, vendors, and entertainers for helping us ROCK our wedding reception!
It couldn’t have gone better.
To be continued next (and last) Wedding Wednesday…
In the mean time, see what recap is coming next on the Wedding Page!

Last Saturday, Scott and I took an hour long Insanity workout from the famous Shaun T. (@ShaunTfitness) himself.
Shaun T. is a fitness guru who pushes you to the max. He’s most known for his fitness videos: Hip Hop Abs, Insanity, Insanity (The Asylum), Rockin’ Body, Kid’s Fit Club and Get Real.
If you still don’t know who he is, do me a favor: PLEASE go to his site and watch his 2:00 Reel. He’ll motivate you to get off the couch and onto your feet in no time!
Last week, I got an invite to the Powerade Zero: Zero Excuses Event from Danielle, an Orlando local who follows my blog. I’ve been following her for a few months now and was excited to meet her in person.
Around 7:45 a.m. Saturday, we were on our way to the unexpected Insanity of Shaun T. I grabbed a light breakfast for both Scott and I, including a Zone Perfect Protein Bar, a large coffee and a water for each of us.
Scott had the iced coffee, and shared part of his large apple with me on our way over.
The only thing I knew about this event was it was probably going to kick our butts. FYE: For Your Entertainment…
I had never done the workout before, but in my head I pictured it to be similar to P90X. That’s pretty accurate to the plymoterics video, but (how to I put this…) just a little more insane.
In a nutshell, THIS is Insanity.
In 60 minutes, you can burn up to 1,000 calories. Seriously.
He doesn’t stop, and I made it a personal goal of mine not to stop either.
*PS: Great message Tyra! I just love her.
Powerade Zero: Zero Excuses Event
We got downtown to The Vue around 8:15 a.m. As we walked into the lobby, I was looking for a cute blonde about my age and spotted Danielle right away. Hi Danielle!
She was very sweet (just as I had expected), and went out of her way to get Scott and I into the VIP areas. Up at the pool deck, we took a minute to look around and found out why this place is called The
It was gorgeous.
Knowing it was only a matter of time before the sun crept up passed the building, we set up front and center near the stage. I took full advantage of VIP here, claiming a spot out of the crowd.
She was shooting the event and was nice enough to share her photos!
*All photos below during the event were pulled from Cat Melnyk Photography, LLC.
Time to get INSANE
Warm up started at 8:45 a.m. with local trainers. Right on time, Shaun T. made his debut fifteen minutes later.
The crowd was immediately PUMPED. It’s Shaun T ya’ll!
We got busy and jumped into the workout right away.
He had his assistant Scott with him on stage so he could walk around making sure everyone was working hard.
Neither one of them stopped, except during the 30 second water breaks. I was on a mission to do the same!
I had no idea what was going on around me, but I was in the zone and so was Scott.
Right off the bat we completed three rounds of full body jumps, squats and push-ups… and that was just the warm up.
Next up was abs. Lots of them.
(I’m sweating all over again just looking at these photos!)
Just when you think you’re done, more Power Jumps.
Keep it comin’ Shaun T. Why yes, I would love to do some push-up punches.
And that’s how I spent the rest of the hour. Up, down, over, around, in the air, on the ground and sweaty.
We finished with a killer series of (more) abs and wrapped up the session with some questions from the crowd.
Shaun T. had a lot of fans here, and I was certainly one of them.
I wasn’t wearing a Shaun T. is For Me t-shirt like these girls, but his workouts certainly are for me. Ridiculous, hard and insane.
Fat-Free Powerade Zero Cupcakes.
I’m going to need to figure out this recipe as soon as possible because they were to die for.
The key ingredients are Powerade Zero, gluten free flour, sugar-free gelatin and fat-free whip cream. I will keep you updated about any progress on this one, and please share if you attempt and successfully make a similar concoction.
It’s three days later, and I’m still a little sore. For the past few days both Scott and I’s calves have been ON FIRE, but it’s still a good feeling to have.
Shaun T., you officially whipped us into shape, and we love you for it.
Thanks again Shaun, Danielle, Cat and the Powerade Zero Team for such a great event!
Have you ever done a video workout series?
Shout outs to any Insanity, P90X survivors! Both programs are intense. Have any of you completed a series?
